Rocky Mountain 2009

Mary (“Edgy”) Edgerton Sloat,   Bobbi Bohman Travis,   Phoebe Royce Gilchrist,   Kathy Bateman Driscoll and MP Cameron Nugent spent July 13 – July 20 at a mini class reunion high in the Rocky Mountains of Snowmass, CO.

Thanks to Edgy, we had a fabulous schedule complete with a gourmet cooking class, hiking over wildflower – covered peaks sometimes with nature guides giving us the inside scoop on pocket gophers, aphid-manufactured “sparkle”, the beaver household, the seasonal memory-boost of the chickadee, magna boiled rocks and more.

We enjoyed the world-famous Aspen Music Festival with jazz, bluegrass and classical quintet concerts on the mountain top plus street fairs and art shows in town.  One night we went to a real down-home rodeo and another to the wonderful Aspen Santa Fe ballet performance.

We feasted on farm fresh cheese, veggies, fruit, and even Elk Burgers!    Most of all, we basked in the pleasure of renewed ’58 friendships.  If we do this again, classmates, you have to come!  By the way, did you know Edgy has a mountain named after her?  It’s Mount Mary in New Hampshire’s White Mountains, a gift from her delightful husband  Bruce.
