YAIRA (YI) ACKERMAN SHAPIRO

moved to Chicago in March ‘07 to be closer to 2 children and 4 grandchildren. She was looking forward to a San Francisco/Yosemite vacation with another son and 2 grandchildren who moved to St. Louis after 3 yrs in India.

LIZ BAILEY BENZIGER

travels periodically to the West Coast to see her newest grandchild, Eliza, (her namesake), an older brother and 2 cousins. She and Charles saw MARY (EDGY) EDGERTON SLOAT and Bruce during a June trip to N.H.. Her passion for cello led her to a chamber music camp this summer and she plays in a community orchestra.

LAIRD TROWBRIDGE WHITE

has been published locally for years but now has a poem in The Spoon River Poetry Review. “Thank you, Mt. Holyoke, for my great teaching in the English Department.”

PEG TROTTER FELIX

writes of travels to London for a wedding followed by a Baltic trip. “Palaces in St. Petersburg are jaw-dropping as were the prices in Copenhagen!”

BETTE ANNE (BETS) FELDMAN SILVERMAN

reports “51 years of marriage to the same ‘hunk’ who strode into North Mandelle; March of 1957 as a blind date . . . beware of hunks in tennis sweaters – ‘It’ll be a bumpy ride!!! before and during. Disconcerting to hear said hunk called “Gramps” by grand daughter who is approximately 1 year younger than her grandmother when said Grandmother inched through the gates of Mary Lyon Hall September of 1954 . . . ups and downs – the good, the bad, the ugly – and who is that ‘old man” in the bathroom mirror standing behind me while I brush teeth (all mine). We’ve laughed, cried, shouted; but also shared sunrises sunsets and champagne in some of the worlds most beautiful and serene places – in other words – A MARRIAGE”. We got married 3 weeks to the day after ‘58′ graduation – down 2 aisles in 3 weeks – ah to be young, in love, naive etc. . . . 2 successful children, one grandchild heading to college next year, retired, but sharing a small family business entity, and memories of MHC as the “best 4 years of my life.

NANCY CURTIS HAWLEY’S

most recent jobs are as a Park Ranger at Denali National Park, Alaska, Tauck Director for Tauck World Discovery Tours in Alaska and Colorado, New England camp counselor for Rotary Camp Royal, and volunteer Naturalist Guide. Most recent trips to Antarctica, India, Bermuda and Mexico. Nine grandchildren include twins born 11/08.

CAROL BISSELL TRUESDELL

received the Katharine Phelps Lifetime Achievement Award from the Junior League of Minneapolis -“meant a lot to me!” She was a founder of Plymouth Church Neighborhood Foundation; served on it’s Board for nine years and chaired for the last two. PCNF is a developer of faith-based affordable housing for those in greatest need in the Minneapolis metro area (homeless youth, low income working families, etc.). A trip to Scandinavia is planned in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Nine grandchildren all live in Minneapolis!!

Hope all is well with you. I am recovered after a malignant kidney was removed in April, and now living the aggressive monitoring life. Fortunately, I feel just fine.
