Korean barbeque beef (“Bulgogi”)
Serves 3-4. Takes approx. 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
3 TBSP (tablespoon) soy sauce
3 TBSP sesame seed oil
1 1/2 TBSP sugar (brown) or honey
250-300 grams of sliced beef (tenderloin)
1/2 TBSP minced garlic
1/4 cups chopped green onions (scallions)
1/2 cup chopped onions
2 tsp (teaspoon) sesame seed
Instructions:
- Prepare sliced beef in a separate bowl. Sprinkle some black pepper as needed
- Dice or chop onions and green onions into bite size. Mushrooms can also be added
- Prepare marinating sauce: mix soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar in proportion stated above. Mix in minced garlic and sesame seed (optional).
- Pour sauce over sliced beef to marinate. Add in the prepared vegetables and mix together until sauce is evenly well marinated.
- Place the marinated beef in a container and let sit in refrigerator for about 15-30 minutes so that flavour is well preserved.
- Heat pan over medium to high heat. Drop in cooking oil or sesame oil and briskly stir cook beef until cooked.
- Serve with fresh vegetables and rice.
