Description
We will stroll along the coastal bluffs on a 2.5-mile flat trail to view sea birds, harbor seals, and a fern grotto, among other natural flora and fauna. We’ll then gather in the cultural area for a BYO lunch and a tour of the historic dairy ranch buildings, which include a Victorian house, cow barn, and water-powered machine shop. Along the way we’ll discuss the various people who made their living from this land.
Details: Meet in the main parking lot of Wilder Ranch State Park, located on the ocean side of Highway One about 2 miles north of Santa Cruz. Bathrooms are adjacent to the parking lot. Parking is $10 per car ($ 9 for seniors 62+), or you can park by displaying your California State Parks membership pass on the car’s rearview mirror or dashboard. Please bring your own snacks, lunch, and water. Also, the coast is generally cooler and windier than inland, so come prepared with layers.
