Alumnae Association’s webinar: Got Resiliency?

October 18, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT

In this Alumnae Association webinar, Abby Ampuja ’01 discusses The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) — a groundbreaking wellness initiative that teaches participants practical skills to increase personal resilience and empower communities. CRM participants build resilience by learning about the impact of stress on their bodies and brains, self-regulation skills for rapid relief of stress-related symptoms, and an increased sense of control over future wellness.

Ampuja  received her doctorate in special education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Previously she was an elementary school teacher in several public and private schools in North Carolina (both special education and general education), where she developed an interest in finding ways of fostering educational resilience in her students. This interest led her to two approaches, which are at the heart of her work today: Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Growth Mindset. Ampuja owns/runs an SEL clinic with a goal of supporting and empowering exceptional learners and their families/educators. She is a trained resiliency skills facilitator for The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) . In 2020, Ampuja became a certified empowerment coach, working with individuals of all ages to foster resilience and personal empowerment
