What\u2019s its backstory?&nbsp;<\/h5>\n<p>Towards the beginning of 2020 I had some butternut, and I had some cheese, and I had some milk.&nbsp; And I wanted to do something with them.&nbsp; I WANTED to make something with sage because I thought that would be a good flavour combination but I didn\u2019t have any sage\u2026 so I used curry powder instead.&nbsp; And oh boy, and I&#8217;m glad I did!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h5>Curried Butternut Cream Sauce with Pasta<\/h5>\n<p><em>Makes 1.75 cups. Takes approx. 1 hour<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Ingredients:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bd butternut squash<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp butter<\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp flour<\/li>\n<li>1 chicken bouillon cube (optional)<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bc &#8211; 1 \u00be cups milk<\/li>\n<li>4 \u2013 5 oz cheese of your choice (cheddar or jack cheeses work well)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc &#8211; 1 tsp curry powder (to taste)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd garlic powder (to taste)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Instructions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Prepare Butternut Squash<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Cut a medium butternut squash and remove seeds<\/li>\n<li>Bake \u00bd the butternut squash for approximately 45 minutes at 350 degrees F<\/li>\n<li>Scoop butternut out and discard skin<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Sauce<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare a roux by melting 2 Tbsp butter and combining with 2 Tbsp flour over low to medium heat<\/li>\n<li>Reduce heat to low and incorporate 1 chicken bouillon cube (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Whisk in 1 cup milk and allow mixture to come to a simmer<\/li>\n<li>Whisk in an additional \u00bc &#8211; \u00be cups milk until desired thickness<\/li>\n<li>Mix in cooked butternut squash meat and fully incorporate into sauce<\/li>\n<li>Melt in approximately 4-5 oz of cheese<\/li>\n<li>Add \u00bc &#8211; 1 tsp of curry powder (to taste)<\/li>\n<li>Add \u00bd tsp garlic powder (to taste)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Serve over pasta of your choice<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Source:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Original recipe by Emily Arnold<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Name: Emily Arnold Class Year: 2012 Country of Residence: United States Why is this recipe great?
