About 45 class members were in attendance at our class meeting. The class treasury was expected to break even after Reunion; funds were used to pay for items up front, such as the class costume for the Laurel Parade and snacks available for class members and guests on Friday, but will be reimbursed when the Alumnae Association sends the class the second of our reimbursement checks for fees collected.
The class also passed bylaws. Next, the class reviewed the slate of officers presented by the Nominating Committee, added Sarah McLaughlin and Alexis Davis to the slate as Reunion Chairs, and passed the slate as amended.
Discussion then returned to the class treasury. The treasury has about $4,000 in it. The class decided that if the treasury had more funds in it, those funds could be used to offset future Reunion costs, either in the form of scholarships or reduced fees for one or more of the costs associated with the weekend. In light of that, the class decided to pass class dues, which are allowed under the newly passed bylaws. Dues are completely optional and a failure to pay them will not affect your standing with the class. On the other hand, if you are able to do so, please consider paying the dues. Dues will be $5 per year and are payable in 5-year increments. A $25 payment will cover you until our next Reunion in 2015. You may send a check to Destiny McDonald Barletta or check our class website for a PayPal option.
Our meeting concluded with a discussion of communication from the class board. Attendees would be happy to have more communication from the class, perhaps via email, and would also like to see an RSS feed added to the class website so that they don’t have to check it, but that updates will come to them. As incoming class secretary and web coordinator, Cynthia promised to work on this for the class.
