Griffin talk on Racial Equity first meeting 7/16/20

This Thursday morning, on the Pacific coast, 19 classmates from across the country, gathered via Zoom to recapture the enjoyment of talking and learning with other intelligent women, as we had in the Griffin Talks during the 50th reunion. We were not disappointed. Our primary goal at this first meeting was to establish a framework for discussion. After an introductory discussion of why we had come and what we hoped to gain, we decided to pick a topic or a media piece to be discussed. Topics discussed at this time cover personal experiences, what can we do, role of intellectuals, awakening, what is MHC doing now. An example of media might be books, film, essays, magazine articles or podcasts.  We decided to rotate leaders, who would pick the topic or media that would be discussed at the next month’s meeting Thursday, August 13 at 11am PST (12pmMDT, 1pmCDT, 2pmEDT)

Ramona Pei volunteered to lead a discussion on the Chester Children’s Chorus’s the rendition of “I Still Can’t Breathe” in 2016. I am listening to it as I write this and it is a powerful piece.

Attendees: Barbara Reed, Margarita Perez, Jana Evert, Beth McGregor, Jill Frew , Ramona Pei, Marilyn Kincaid, Julia Halvey, Judy Whipple, Marzy Bauer, Carolyn Brewer, Lucy Anne Mckosky, Andrea Sununu, Wendy Ingersoll, Robin Edwards, Sandra Gary, Joan Hochman and Linda Gianassi O’Connell and Trudy Levy

We agreed to record our discussion and are happy to post the recording here

If anyone has another topic that they would like to discuss with other intelligent women send them my way.

As they say online - Please discuss.
