{"id":3141,"date":"2016-07-07T19:36:45","date_gmt":"2016-07-07T23:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.alumnae.mtholyoke.edu\/1961\/?p=3141"},"modified":"2016-07-07T19:36:45","modified_gmt":"2016-07-07T23:36:45","slug":"sonja-stephens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.alumnae.mtholyoke.edu\/1961\/sonja-stephens\/","title":{"rendered":"Sonja Stephens"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 id=\"page-title\" class=\"page__title title\">Sonya Stephens steps up to lead Mount Holyoke<\/h1>\n<article class=\"node-64840 node node-news view-mode-full clearfix\">\n<header><\/header>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-news-display-date field-type-datetime field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><span class=\"date-display-single\">Thursday, June 30, 2016 &#8211; 10:00pm<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-news-featured-photo field-type-image field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\"><a class=\"colorbox init-colorbox-processed cboxElement\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/media\/images\/stephens_HL.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/news_article_feature\/public\/media\/images\/stephens_HL.jpg?itok=jAj2Tgml\" alt=\"Image of Sonya Stephens.\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-news-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>By\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ksavoie@mtholyoke.edu\">Keely Savoie<\/a><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Sonya Stephens, whose commitment to women\u2019s colleges dates back to her undergraduate days at the University of Cambridge, assumed the presidency of Mount Holyoke College on July 1.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The former vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty, Stephens will be the acting president of the College for the next three years.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In her new role, Stephens will lead the implementation of a new strategic plan,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/iplanning\/strategic-planning\/plan-for-mhc-2021\">The Plan for Mount Holyoke 2021<\/a>, and guide the College through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/iplanning\/2017-reaccreditation\">reaccreditation<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtholyoke.edu\/iplanning\/2017-reaccreditation\">process<\/a>.
