By now you should have received your first mailing about this year’s Mount Holyoke Fund. If you have already responded with a gift, thank you. Your gift will make a difference. The Mount Holyoke Fund provides crucial support for students, professors and the College
Contributing each year is a way that we can all support the college as it continues its mission to educate women with quality faculty and innovative programs in state-of-the-art facilities. The Mount Holyoke Fund provides about 10 percent of the College’s annual operating budget, which helps to contain tuition increases, attract top faculty, maintain the campus and implement new programs.
This year, the Mount Holyoke Fund actually exceeded its goal and topped out at $8.1 million. That means more women were helped with tuition expenses. Unlike most colleges, Mount Holyoke meets 100 percent of a student’s institutionally determined need. And with the help of the Mount Holyoke Fund, the College provides a hidden subsidy of $20,000 to every student!
It really doesn’t matter if you give a lot or a little. The important thing is that you give something. The Frances Perkins Program will only survive if we show the College and the world that we value what was given to us by giving back. The Mount Holyoke Fund is one of the most important ways to demonstrate our commitment to ensure the FP Program continues to thrive and offer women like us a chance at a world-class education.
True to Mount Holyoke values, participation is considered much more important than a dollar amount. If you’re in a financial bind, a gift of $5 or $10 is appreciated. Of course, if you are able to give more, we appreciate that, too.
