Greetings Class of ’85!
How are you? Your team of class officers are working hard to “Keep the Connection Strong”. And we need your help to do that! We were thrilled by the response we’ve received on our Facebook page and how many of us are reconnecting through it! It’s gratifying to see many of you post your latest news, photos, articles of interest and just starting threads of conversations. We have 176 classmates posting their latest news, photos, articles of interest, and other information through the MHC85 Facebook Page. If you would like to become a member, you can do so by messaging Julie Reiff through Facebook or emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Last year we had a couple of opportunities to get together. Thanks to the wonders of social media and the ingenuity of a few dedicated alums, MHC Mountain Day on October 6, 2011 went viral with alumnae gathering in coffee shops and ice-cream parlors in fifty-one locations over five continents. Keep your eyes open for this year’s Mountain Day event and be a part of it! Also this year we have the 175th anniversary of the day MHC opened its doors on November 8, 2012. Another opportunity to celebrate! Vespers, another long-standing MHC tradition, took place in Old South Church, Boston on December 9, 2011. Several of our classmates attended the MHC85 pre-Vespers Cocktail gathering. Classmates from 1965 to 1985 were invited to attend this event at the College Club. Rumor has it that 2012 Vespers will take place in Manhattan. We’ll be providing more information as we approach the date via Facebook and our class webpage. As in years past, it promises to be a warm and spiritual gathering of friends and beautiful music.
Looking forward, we are now planning a series of 50th Birthday celebration retreats for next year. The idea is to have year-long celebrations to commemorate our entry into the next five decades. Already we have Griffins willing to organize mini-reunions in San Juan, Puerto Rico (most likely in February or March) and the Berkshires. If you would like host or attend one of the 5D Griffin Birthdays (5DGB), please contact one of the class officers by email, phone, or Facebook for more information. We’ll be sending out more details in the coming months.
