The Class of 1970 classmates listed below have been recognized by the Alumnae Association previously.
These awards are presented to deserving recipients at the Alumnae Association Meeting during Reunion. In the year prior to each of our reunions nominations are submitted to the Alumnae Association using the online Awards Nomination Form.
The Alumnae Medal of Honor
Awarded for eminent service in promoting the effectiveness of the Alumnae Association and/or College, for signal service in completing definite projects, or for other noteworthy services that strengthen the position of the Alumnae Association and/or the College.
Significant leadership, specific accomplishments, and stellar service have been consistent over an extended period of time and broad-based across multiple major areas of involvement, which include classes, clubs, affinity groups, the Alumnae Association, and the college. Leadership has demonstrated a strong commitment to the future of the College and the Alumnae Association and has inspired other alumnae to do the same. Awarded beginning at the 20th reunion.

The Loyalty Award
Awarded to honor an alumna who has demonstrated exceptional loyalty to the Alumnae Association and/or College with her consistent effort and active involvement over an extended period of time in at least one area of service.
Volunteer effort may be on behalf of a class, club, affinity group, the Alumnae Association, or the College. Awarded beginning at the 20th reunion. Nominees should be from classes that will hold reunions the following spring.

Achievement Award
Presented at Reunion to an alumna for outstanding achievements and service to the larger society, through salaried or volunteer fields of endeavor. Recognizes work that exemplifies the ideals of a liberal arts education; that demonstrates professional distinction, sustained commitment, and/or creativity; and that reflects the vision and pioneering spirit of Mary Lyon.

Mary Lyon Award
Awarded at the College’s Spring Celebration of Excellence to a young alumna (graduated fifteen or fewer years ago), the Mary Lyon Award honors those who demonstrate exceptional promise or sustained achievement in their life, profession, or community, and whose work embodies the humane values which Mary Lyon exemplified in her life and inspired in others.

Alumnae Honorary Degree
Conferred by the College upon an alumna of exceptional and distinctive achievement. The Alumnae Association recommends alumnae candidates for an Honorary Degree to the College’s Committee on Honorary Degrees which makes the ultimate selection. Honorary Degrees recognize extraordinary contributions in the arts and sciences or service to society, through accomplishments that demonstrate both intellect and character to a high degree.

Lyon Award
In 2015, led by Susan Ellis and Martha Doolittle McIver, a Lion Award for most dollars raised over five years to all funds went to the class of 1970.
Pegasus Award
In 2015, led by Susan Ellis and Martha Doolittle McIver, the class of 1970 received a Pegasus Award for the most dollars raised for The Mount Holyoke Fund in the fiscal year 2015.
